I am in a motel in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is a steam bath here, and it's midnight, and we've only been here a couple hours. It never ceases to amaze me the humidity in this part of the country. It's thick enough to spread on a piece of cornbread and eat it!
At least we had great flights from Abq to St Louis, and STL to Raleigh. Saw some incredible lightning above the thunderheads while cruising at 33,000 ft.
We'll be eating BBQ in Zebulon tomorrow.
For more in-depth info about our flights check out Wayne's Blog.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's RAINING in Albuquerque this morning! It rained for a whole 10 minutes! Yow! At least the sidewalks are damp. That's better than nothin'.
You know you're in a weird place when you're GLAD to see clouds and overcast skies on a Monday morning!!!
There's some kind of energy in the atmosphere. It must be that MARS energy. It is SO COOL to look up into the ESE low sky after sunset, and see that bright red orb!
Or maybe it's also because Mercury is going Retrograde a week from today!!!
Whatever it is, I'm feeling it.
We went to our last regular season Isotopes Baseball game last Saturday. We went early to get our Creamland Cowbells. We were walking around the other side, opposite homeplate, behind the scoreboard, where we were fortunate to run into Ken Young, who runs the whole facility of Isotopes Ballpark. What a nice man! He even listened to our suggestions about more food selections for vegetarians -- but mostly we were gushing about how much we absolutely LOVED the new ballpark, and everything they were doing to accommodate fans.
I missed by 30 Yr High School Reunion, having already made other plans before I found out about it. I'm 2000 mi away from my old high school, so it's a trip to get there. Actually, I haven't set foot in my old hometown for 8 yrs, and that was the first time in 17 yrs. I just don't have occasion to visit Beckley, WV, very often since I grew up and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School. I got a great account of the reunion from an old classmate, and it sounds like it was a hoot. I might have to make an effort to get there for the 35 yr reunion. We'll see................................
It's good to be back home.
I was only gone for 2 nights and 2 days, but they were hectic days, so I'm glad to be back into my normal environment and routine. You can definitely call me a HOMEBODY!!!
What a trip! I went to Las Vegas, NV, on business, and was fortunate to be staying at the fabulous Luxor Hotel. It is a modern day pyramid structure, and is one of the coolest places I've ever stayed. I LOVED it!!! The clientele were decent folks -- lots of families. I had no qualms about being in a casino-hotel all by myself. The espresso bar upstairs on the second level opened at 6am, so I was able to stroll up there each morning for my mocha latte. All the food I ate there was wonderful, too. But the best part was the total lack of noise in my room. I heard NO sounds from anywhere around me -- not even water running or toilets flushing! Amazing!!!
Next time I go back to the Luxor, I'll have my husband with me, and I WON'T be there on business!!! Woo-hoo!
Still no rain around our town.
It's TRYING to rain here in our drought-stricken berg. It's been thundering for a while, now, up on the mountain. It's gotten cloudier and cloudier. The patio has gotten dampened and dried off about 6 times, now, in the past half hour. We actually had some RAIN -- for about 5 minutes! The patio got WET! Maybe it will keep trying and we'll get some more, but I kinda doubt it.
We saw a cool local rhythm & blues band over in Cedar Crest at "Kokopelli's Restaurant & Kantina". They're called Wrestlin' With Jimmy, and they were a good time.
