Whatever happens to strike my fancy at the moment...

'Tis the Season...

I was one of a small group of non-retail folks who had to go to work today. It was great. The parking lot at the office was practically deserted. The parking lot at the mall across the street from my office bldg was totally jam-packed before 8am. I didn't leave my office all day long, so I wouldn't have to be subjected to rabid shoppers going to and from the mall with all those bargains.

I did shop online, and I found one good deal and I went for it.

It was an interesting day. Work was actually on the quiet side, so I was able to listen to our friend, Cynthia, as she presented her 2.5 hr radio show this afternoon on KUNM. It was great! The name of her show is Freeform, and it is aptly described. Well worth the listen, catching it as best I could between tech phone calls.

Leftovers for dinner was another highlight of the day. YUM YUM! Mark & Mary Jane really know how to cook turkey dinner.

It was, indeed, a very Happy Thanksgiving.

Anyone who is a fan of Lord of the Rings needs to CHECK THIS OUT!!!

On the Extended Version DVD of "The Two Towers", there is an easter egg that is, in itself, worth the price of the whole set of DVDs. Wayne & I have been watching the extras that came with that recent release, and just found out about the easter egg last night.

Here's how to get to it: on the first disk, go to Scenes, then go all the way to where Scene 30 is listed, then click down past Scene 30, and a golden ring will appear. Click the golden ring, and hold onto your seat. You won't know what hit you. After you recover from shock and laughter, go back and set your DVD for Subtitles and watch it again. It's even more shocking-hilarious the second time around, and with the subtitles.

I don't want to spoil the surprise, so that's all I'm gonna say about it.

I'm glad my sister and her sweetie are cooking the bird tomorrow.

"Coyote Waits"

This is another excellent installment of the Tony Hillerman series being presented by PBS on their Mystery Series. We enjoyed it almost as much as "Skinwalkers", shown previously. I really like Adam Beach and Wes Studi. They contrast very well against each other as the two tribal policemen involved in solving the case. The New Mexico scenery is a major highlight. Wayne & I were delighted to see The Frontier Restaurant featured in over 10 minutes of the film. One of the characters was even drinking conspiciously from a Frontier soda cup! Woo-hoo!

Speaking of The Frontier, we decided to experience their Sunday morning rush yesterday morning. That place is something else when it's going full bore. Even with a long line, the wait was only about 10 min. As always, our food was absolutely delicious. mmmmmmmmmm

TGIF!

Coming back from vacation makes it hard to get back into the work groove. Thank goodness I only had to work 2 days this week. Thank goodness it's amost time to go home! :)

Our rain is gone for the meantime, and we are once again looking at clear skies in Albuquerque. At least Sandia Crest is covered with a lovely layer of snow. It looks to be above 7000 ft. Halleluiah.

Now, the backyard will be soft enough to dig in the dirt, so we can start our paving stones project to extend the patio. Tonight, we'll sit in front of the fire and watch a movie. Sounds great.

Happy Birthday Heather!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We have RAIN and SNOW in Albuquerque!!!! We are in shock! We haven't seen this much moisture in about 6 months -- at least!! Woo-hoo!
I just saw part of Sandia Crest, as a section of cloud layer cleared a bit. It is covered in snow. It will be gorgeous tomorrow, when the sun is supposed to come back out. It's gorgeous right now, with all the fog, clouds, and precip.
Kansas
That's where we are this evening -- Manhattan, KS. It is the home of Kansas State Univ. The campus is stately, impressive and a wonderful place to attend sporting events!!! The women's basketball team was awesome. They kicked butt on an exhibition team from Czechoslovakia, called "Sparta". Two of the Czech starters were named "Lucie", and both their last names ended in "ovia". The K State Wildcats won 103-45.
We are having fun driving all around the state of Kansas. I like driving n-s/s-n in the state versus driving e-w/w-e. Somehow it's easier driving that way.
The atmosphere has been pretty much perfect for driving conditions ever since we left Abq. Temps in the 40s-50s, a stratus layer day and night, and light winds. We like it that way. :) We got to check out a beautiful moon Fri night driving into Yates Center.
Yes, I think I like Kansas. Somehow, we headed towards KC from Paola, and ended up in Homer's Coffee Place in Overland Park, just off Santa Fe Dr, near Metcalf. It couldn't have ended more perfectly if we'd scripted the whole thing. Karma baby karma. good karma.
GO CHIEFS!!!!! We drove right by Chief's Stadium around 10am. It was just starting to fill up with tailgaters. Man, did they kick butt or what? 9-0.
OK, that's it from Manhattan, KS. We did eat beef for dinner. It was mesquite grilled. mmmm.
