We raked and mowed our yard yesterday evening. It was a quite satisfying experience. Our push mower works just great on this lawn. We were able to find all the yard equipment we needed -- even the extension cord to plug in the electric weed eater -- even our garden gloves. My, how nice it is to finally start getting settled into a home again. It is even nicer to have a yard that grows lush, green grass without having to use a sprinkler to keep it green.
We're going to fire up the Weber this evening and grill some burgers, and enjoy sitting in our backyard.

Relief from the heat!
Our temps have been around 100 or better for the past week. It hit 104 on Saturday afternoon. The thermometer on our patio topped out past 120 deg for about 30 min at the height of that heat on Saturday. Yowza!
Today a front came through. It was 82 deg when we went to work, and only 66 deg with pouring rain when we got off work this evening. It's been cool and nice this evening for a change. The A/C only came on because I decided to run a load of laundry in the dryer. We're supposed to get down to 57 tonight! Woo-hoo!
Good sleepin weather.

Happy Pig Pickin' Day to all of the Jones Family in Halifax, NC.
We're sorry we aren't there to gather under the big oak tree, and eat BBQ pig and chicken, and homemade Brunswick Stew!! We will miss those wonderful hush puppies. We'll try to make it there next year!

Wow! Homegrown Kansas produce!!!!
We hit the local Farmer's Market downtown for the first time this summer on the way home from work. What a panoply of gorgeous fresh homegrown produce and other goodies!!! We brought home HUGE delicious blackberries, the most tender tastey corn on the cob I've eaten in years, and superb zucchini. Yum Yum what a wonderful feast we had for dinner.
We have a little brown bunny rabbit that seems to like hanging around our yard. It has huge brown eyes and a white cottontail. It isn't too jumpy around humans, but doesn't let us get too close, either. It seems to enjoy nibbling all the luscious green grass growing around here, of which there is a great abundance. We will have to mow again tomorrow evening after work.
Ahhh summertime.............. let's go Royals! they are trying to beat the Tigers, but seem to be having a hard go of hanging onto the lead....

Gettin' ready for Tom Petty...................................
Yup, that's what we're doing! TGIF! We've got tix to see him on Sunday night, and we are certainly looking forward to the show. It is bound to rock us out -- you wreck me baby . :)
gonna do some free fallin. o yea.
Dropped by a little neighborhood watering hole not far from here for the first time right after work this evening. Quite a cool little scene; not too many people; very friendly little vibe; nice cold Sierra Nevada. The only Blvd Ale they had on tap was the wheat variety, and I don't like the wheat, so I didn't get any tap ale. Oh well, the bottle of Sierra NV hit the spot anyway. We watched Michelle Wie on ESPN as she totally choked whatever green it was she was on at the PGA tournament. What the heck is a 14 yr old Korean girl doing playing with the guys? I don't get it. She'd be cuter, and I think more succuessful & comfortable playing the greens with other ladies -- but that's just me speaking my mind.
I sure do get Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Especially Mike Campbell. :)
We managed to dig through boxes and find the DVD of "The Last DJ", then dug through another box and found a VHS of "High Grass Dogs". Definitely getting primed for Petty & crew. Also found a CD of Black Crowes with Jimmy Page. That will get us even more primed.
YaHoo.

I should be asleep, but I decided to blog for a minute.
Our lives are slowly returning to a semi-normal state after moving into a new living space. Wayne mowed the lawn this evening for the first time. I think the neighbors are somewhat bemuseed with our old-fashioned push mower. It doesn't cost us a dime to run it -- only good old sweat. We adjusted the height so it cuts really well, and looks great. It doesn't make much noise, either.
We are glad to be moved all into one place -- no storage unit anymore! Just our 1-car garage that pretty stacked up, but that's where we want it to be.
I'll put up some curtains this weekend, and do some more unpacking, but thank goodness the big mess is done with. TGIF!!!

TGIF!!! Happy 3-Day Weekend!!!!
We are no longer renters!!! Finally got completely moved out of the rental unit this week. Had the final walkthru last night -- we get back all but $20 of our security deposit! Ya-Hoo!
Looking forward to unpacking lots and lots of boxes, and firing up the Weber for the first time this season -- got KC strip steaks, salmon and chicken to put on that charcoal, and a nice green backyard next to the trees to do it in.
