Whatever happens to strike my fancy at the moment...

This morning, a record low was set in Lawrence -- 29 degrees! It broke the old record of 31 set back in 1942.

Yes, it was chilly this morning. There was a bit of icing on the car windows -- definitley a "frost is on the pumpkins" kind of morning. We hit a couple patches of very thick fog on the way to work, but they were of the sparse variety, and didn't hamper us too much. We love our morning commute out through the Kansas countryside.

CHIEFS WIN!!! CHIEFS WIN!!! CHIEFS WIN!!!!

We listen to our local sports talk radio AM-810 during our weekday morning commute. Yesterday morning, they were excitedly bantering about the impromptu trip the Chiefs were making to Miami, and quoted Chief's head coach Dick Vermeil as saying "We're gonna go down there and kick their ass!". I'd say that Dick and the boys lived up to that statement!!!
Chiefs 30, Dolphins 20

WOO-HOO!!!!!

We attended a college football game this evening -- not the big KU vs OK at Arrowhead. We drove down through the countryside a short distance to the lovely little berg of Baldwin City. The hometown team is the Baker Univ Wildcats. They've got a nice campus, a really nice little stadium, and the moon rose over the eastern end zone. What a beatiful evening for a game.

It was a great game, too. They went into OT. Too bad the hometeam lost it with an interception. Their opponent, Mid-American Nazarene, scored on their OT drive, but their extra point was blocked. BU should have won ------- close, but no cigar! We had a really nice time all around.

Now we're back home, and my brain is still stacking up a list of chores I need to do tomorrow; this week; this month; before the holidays.....

guess I better get busy on that list....

Ya just never know what CSI is gonna come up with. We're catching reruns of the first season of CSI, and it is really well written/performed. The humor is quite fine... morbid humor. Tis the season for morbid humor. We were looking at "skeleton gloves" at Walgreen's this evening. Kinda cute, but didn't buy 'em.

It's nice to not be sweating and running the A/C. It was 38 deg this morning, and gonna get just as chilly tonight! Probably gonna be "frost on the pumpkin when the fodder's in the shock" in the morning. Plenty of fodder in the shock round these parts.

We knew our VUE was fuel efficient when we purchased it in Jan 2003. Now, that particular aspect of our purchase is even more heartening. We just drove down to Yates Center and back -- around 200 mi round trip. Our vehicle is getting 23.84 mpg running at 65 mph. Not bad!!!

We went in and out of showers all day. We were just driving through a deluge in Topeka, about 20 mi from home, and it ended abruptly. One second we were slogging through rain and spray, the next second it was dry as a bone.... weird.

Now we're home, dry and resting, with thunder off in the distance and crickets chirping to beat the band... gonna sleep well tonight.....
