Whatever happens to strike my fancy at the moment...

I guess we have dodged the e-coli spinach bullet!!
We've been eating triple-washed, ready-to-eat bagged spinach nearly every day for YEARS! We usually buy Popeye brand at HyVee, or whatever Costco is selling by the "bale". We currently have a tiny bit left in the bottom of a bag that I was going to stir fry this evening with some zucchini & mushrooms. We've eaten most of that bag from Costco over the past 2 weeks, and haven't had any ill effects from it. Oh well, don't want to push my luck. I'll toss it; we'll have zucchini & mushrooms sans the spinach! :(
I guess we won't be eating anymore fresh spinach for a while. We'll just have to stick to lettuces, and whatever other good greens are at the market: collards, mustard greens, kale, etc...
sheesh!

It certainly is nice to be enjoying cooler temps 'round these parts!! This morning, it's only 55 deg, with a few clouds. How wonderfully refreshing!!!!
Last night, we sat out on the patio, lit a small candle, and sipped dark brown ale from a growler we'd brought home the other evening from 75th St Brewery. We enjoyed the fact that our beer mugs were quite cool, instead of sweating condensation. The temperature of the ale stayed just perfect. It was a night to be sitting outside, with a few stars and the waxing moon.
This morning, my steaming cup of English Breakfast tea is something to look forward to, as there is a slight chill in the air -- NOT a result of the A/C blasting!
I have a full plate of home chores to take care of on this Labor Day Holiday. Yes, I am going to labor today -- doing what I need to do for myself. We are very glad for the holiday, and very glad we have regular jobs to take a holiday from.
