Whatever happens to strike my fancy at the moment...

We went home early from work this afternoon due to an ice storm here in northeast KS. So far, the severity has been moderate -- only about 1/4 to 1/2" of sleet here. We actually went for a long walk after I got home from work. The precip had subsided, and it was just cold -- and getting colder! Winter has arrived with a vengence.

Tomorrow is a big question mark! We are right on the edge of a front, inbetween predictions of very heavy snow to our west, and much more icing to our east. If the front shifts either direction, the roads around here will definitely be too bad for getting around town. Personally, I would love to see a big snow!

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I'm still processing the experience of the awesome performance by The Disco Biscuits at the Granada Theater last Friday night. It was intense; at times surreal. It was so much more than I'd thought it was going to be. The 4 musicians that played, poured, melded, fused sound/light/energy to totally mesmerize their enthralled fans seemed as amazed as the audience at what had just occured. I ended up soaking in sweat from dancing my ass off for 3 hrs. The muse inhabited my body and I surrendered to the groove. We were enraptured, to say the least.

The leaves have fallen; fluffy, floating, musty brown/orange/red piles scattered everywhere through the wooded sections of town. They sound & smell great, and soon they will be transformed into musty wet ones. Showers are predicted later tonight. We're extremely pleased with our bagging effort after work last night -- all in all, 8 bags of leaves ready for the pickup on Monday. This Fall is arriving in northeast KS in fits and starts. The drizzly misty cool days and nights are the best; however strong winds have accompanied this front. Glad to be inside tonight, cozied up to the piles of laundry, with the washer n dryer humming; fresh fluffy clean clothes popping out, ready to be sorted and folded. Ahh yes, it's a nice Friday night indeed. Might even get a glimpse of the waning bulb of a moon rising again tonight. It was so fine last night, the perfect backdrop for the special outdoor performance of the Morphing Endorphins.

Lawrence is a very cool town.
